We invite you to the 2026 edition of our summer course Campo Traviesa: A Handbook for Touching a Rainbow, in the company of the Museo Tamayo's mediation team.

We designed this course as an adventure in which girls and boys learn about light and color while playing and creating works of art that transform spaces. We will follow in the footsteps of contemporary artists and put scientific discoveries to the test to explore how, by uniting our imagination with curiosity, we can make the impossible possible, such as touching a rainbow.

Girls and boys will learn about light and color as physical phenomena and artistic fields through scientific experiments, sensory experiences and recreational activities within the museum's exhibitions.

The course syllabus includes exploring and creating works in diverse artistic media, such as furniture and contemporary sculpture, experimental painting and cinema, shadow theater, expanded drawing, typographic design, lighting environments, sound art, photography and conceptual art.

The title A Handbook for Touching a Rainbow refers to the publication that we will build collectively during the two weeks of the summer course. We will begin with a series of creative instructions, apparently impossible to carry out, written by the museum's mediation team to awaken their curiosity and imagination along with daily exercises.

Girls and boys will take these experiences as a starting point to write their own instructions, which we will incorporate into the final version of the manual, which will be available for free download on the museum's website.

The weeks of the course are structured based on the following experiences:

  • Production workshops to create art projects that girls and boys can take home.
  • Creative laboratories to learn about light and color through experiments and games.
  • Multisensory explorations around light, sound, space and writing.
  • Collective projects that allow us to create in a big way while practicing skills such as sharing, designing as a team, communicating ideas and integrating each other's diverse perspectives.
  • Collaborative games to live together and have fun in groups.
  • Visits to the exhibitions and tours of the museum's architecture.
