In the framework of the 45th anniversary of the Museo Tamayo and the centenary of the birth of Teodoro González de León, one of the two architects who designed the museum building, specialists Susana García Fuertes and Juan José Kochen will discuss the importance of the Museo Tamayo as a reference for contemporary Mexican architecture.

Susana García Fuertes is a leading figure in today's architectural practice in Mexico. His work is characterized by its conceptual depth and spatial sense. In terms of airport infrastructure, his projects stand out for terminal 2 of Benito Juárez International Airport, in Mexico City, and terminal 2 of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla International Airport, in Guadalajara, Jalisco. He was in charge of the expansion of the FBiblioteca Francisco Xavier Clavigero and several academic buildings at the Universidad Iberoamericana, Santa Fe campus, in Mexico City. Other important projects include La Mexicana Residencial, in Santa Fe, in Mexico City, as well as the Paseo de la Mujer Mexicana, in Parque Fundidora, in Monterrey (2017-2018), Nuevo León.

As an academic, she has contributed to the critical and reflective formation of architectural education in our country. Since 2003, she has been professor of History of Architecture at the Universidad Iberoamericana, Santa Fe campus, and of Architectural Theory at Universidad La Salle, in Mexico City.

For his part, Juan José Kochen is an architect, editor and consultant. His academic background is multidisciplinary since he studied Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM, as well as journalism at the Escuela de Periodismo Carlos Septién García and a master's degree in Analysis, Theory and History of Architecture also at the UNAM. He wrote for the newspaper Reforma, was editor of the magazine Arquine and consultant to the Subdirección General de Sustentabilidad y Técnica del Infonavit.

Kochen is the author of La utopía como modelo and has published more than 20 books on architecture, design, city and infrastructure. He has been a fellow at the National Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (Conacyt) and the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts. He is currently the coordinator of Sustainability in Empresas ICA and a professor at the Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM and of CENTRO.
