Homenaje a Osvaldo Sánchez
Curator, art critic and writer, Osvaldo Sánchez Crespo was born in Havana, Cuba, in 1958, and has lived in Mexico since 1990. He directed the Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil from 1997 to 2000, the Museo Tamayo and the Museo de Arte Moderno from 2007 to 2012, institutions in which he left a significant mark.
He co-founded the Patronato de Arte Contemporáneo en México, co-curated the international public art project inSite from 2000 to 2001, and served as artistic director and curator of inSite/artistic practices in the public domain in Tijuana-San Diego from 2001 to 2006.
He wrote the notebook of poems Matar al último venado (1982), with which he won the David Prize in Cuba. He was the screenwriter of the plays Papeles secundarios and Mujer transparente.
The posthumous tribute will include curator Patricia Sloane, artist and teacher Gerardo Suter, and curators Josefa Ortega and Tania Ragasol. Marisol Argüelles, director of the Museo de Arte Moderno, will moderate.
