La obra de Tarik Kiswanson (Halmstad, Suecia, 1986) explora los momentos y espacios de transición que suelen marcar una vida: el paso de la infancia a la adolescencia, el desplazamiento de un contexto a otro, la fluctuación de los territorios y de las fronteras geopolíticas, así como aquellos fenómenos transformativos como el nomadismo, la diáspora y la migración.
Hijo de una familia emigrada de Palestina, el artista radicado en París aborda los conceptos de alteridad, transparencia y opacidad, refiriéndose a los escritos poscoloniales de Édouard Glissant y a su poética del mestizaje. Como las siluetas de los niñxs que en sus dibujos parecen buscar a tientas los confines del espacio que los contiene, la obra de Kiswanson emerge de un lugar a otro en un intento por expandir los límites inciertos entre la identidad y la diferencia.

Father Form (Forma paterna), 2017
Agrupadas bajo el término Father Form (Forma paterna) o Vestibules (Vestíbulos), las esculturas penetrables de Kiswanson fueron concebidas como espacios intermedios. Un “vestíbulo” es una ante cámara en la arquitectura romana e islámica, así como la sección del oído interno encargada de mantener el equilibrio. A medida que la obra entra en movimiento, las imágenes capturadas en sus superficies reflejantes se fragmentan, disolviendo el límite entre el cuerpo y la arquitectura
Las esculturas serán activadas por niñxs pre-adolescentesataviados con trajes diseñados por el artista, mientras que vocalizan fragmentos de textos escritos por él. Estos textos refieren a la fragilidad de los momentos y espacios de transición, así como a la naturaleza cambiante de la identidad, en particular durante etapas como la pubertad.

The work of Tarik Kiswanson (Halmstad, Sweden, 1986) explores moments and spaces of transition that often become milestones in human lives: the passage from childhood to adolescence, the displacement from one context to another, the fluctuation of territories and geopolitical borders, as well as transformative phenomena such as nomadism, diaspora and migration.
A child of emigrants from Palestine, the Paris-based artist addresses concepts such as otherness, transparency and opacity, drawing from Édouard Glissant's postcolonial writings and his poetics of miscegenation. Like the silhouettes of children in his drawings that seem to fumble for the edges of the spaces that contain them, Kiswanson’s work emerges from one place to another, in an attempt to expand the uncertain boundaries between identity and difference.

Father Form , 2017
Known as Father Form or Vestibules, Kiswanson’s penetrable sculptures were conceived as in-between spaces. A “vestibule” is an antechamber in Roman and Islamic architecture, as well as the part of the inner ear that regulates balance. As the work comes into motion, the images captured by its reflective surfaces fracture, dissolving the boundary between the body and the architecture.
The sculptures will be activated by pre-adolescent children dressed in costumes designed by the artist himself, while voicing fragments of texts also written by him. These texts refer to the frailty implied in moments and spaces of transition, as well as to the changing nature of identity, particularly during stages such as puberty.
